MTV EMA Awards 2009 Berlin

The MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin went without a hitch this week.

Katy Perry as host had more costume changes than I did hot dinners the whole week, and delivered again as second time host. Her best costume in my opinion was her in a west ham kit as a tribute to Boyfriend Russell Brand who supports the hammers. On the back of her shorts she had embroidered RUSTY.

Beyonce was the big winner on the night and when she announced her "best video" award was for Jay as he had 'put a ring on it' it bought the house down.

Foo Fighters secret gig in Berlin Nov 4th

There is nothing like a foo fighters gig, and there is nothing like a 600 capacity barn foo fighters gig.

Dave spoke quite a lot between the songs, which was a greatest hits set, to the fans who had a 'golden ticket' for entry. The crowd seemed to be local fans, a who's who of the international music business and Green Day were also present. LET'S ROCK!

Absolute Radio is ditching Absolute Xtreme

Absolute Radio is ditching Absolute Xtreme and launching an 80s station - Absolute 80s.Xtreme, which launched in 2005 as Virgin Radio Xtreme, competes with Xfm, NME and Kerrang playing new rock music.

A sad day, as this was a good XFM competitor with buckets of energy.

MTV awards Live from Berlin on 5th November...

With probably the strongest line up for many years the MTV awards comes to Berlin days ahead of 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall.
Jay-Z, U2, Tokio Hotel, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Katy Perry, Shakira, Leona Lewis, it's going to be a packed show.
I spent yesterday with Katy Perry at her rehearsals and then to the wall to film the acceptance speeches for the Regional Winners including Dima Bilan. It's going to be a fun day tomorrow.

Leona Lewis plays a LIVE gig!

She's sold millions of records, sung in front of millions more people, but in a back to front move only made possible by TV talent shows she is only now announcing her first live shows since becoming famous.

She played Hackney Empire Theatre, in the area she grew up in. At one point in the show she sang in front of a giant hologram of herself.

I assume it was a projected hologram and not one of these.
She was certainly the best singer at the Brits. Go Leona.
